One of the world’s hottest blues/rock guitarists and singers, Nottingham-born Alvin Lee (1944-2013) developed his appealing style with Ten Years After, the group which caused a sensation when they performed at Woodstock in 1969. As a solo artist Lee experimented with different moods and genres, and over a period of more than 30 years he rocked out on such albums as In Flight (1974), Pump Iron! (1975) and many more, including Keep On Rockin’ (1994). Released in 2004, In Tennessee saw Lee realise a personal ambition when he teamed up with his childhood guitar hero and inspiration, Scotty Moore – the legendary guitarist behind Elvis Presley, as well as Lee’s personal favourite drummer DJ Fontana. Recorded in Nashville, this upbeat album is available for the first time on 180g vinyl and finds Alvin at work with two pioneers of the rock’n’roll era, infusing 11 tracks with his talent and enthusiasm for the musicians and their music. Here are two generations of great musicians, together on one feelgood album.
