ANNO DOMINI
ON THIS NEW DAY (limited Edition of 2000 copies)

A pleasant and satisfying set of songs from Anno Domini, a melodic acoustic folk rock outfit formed in 1971 by former Eire Apparent lead guitarist David ‘Tiger’ Taylor. Eire Apparent specialised in heavy rock and toured America with the Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1967. Anno Domini provided a complete musical contrast. ‘On This New Day’ is a rare work, long sought after by collectors. Influenced by American folk rock, the Irish group featured a lively version of The Byrds’ ‘So You Want To Be A Rock’n’Roll Star’ among the ten album tracks.

Other stand out items include a ‘cover’ of Dion’s ‘Daddy Rowlin’ and originals ‘Bad Lands Of Ardguth’ and ‘The Good Life I Have Known’. A single version of ‘Hitchcock Railway’ has been added as a bonus item.

CLEAR BLUE SKY
CLEAR BLUE SKY (Limited Edition of 2500 copies)

Clear Blue Sky, one of the most promising British bands of the early Seventies, devised this impressive debut album, now recognised as a classic of British progressive rock. Although influenced by contemporaries like Cream, Clear Blue Sky was keen to experiment with new original sounds. The seven tracks include the epic ‘Journey To The Inside Of The Sun’ and dynamic performances like ‘The Rocket Ride’ and ‘You Mystify’.

Produced by Patrick Campbell-Lyons, ‘Clear Blue Sky’ was first released on the Vertigo label in January 1971, its distinctive gatefold LP cover designed by Roger Dean. The trio from Acton, London features John Simmons, (guitar), Mark Sheather (bass guitar) and Ken White (drums). Eighteen-year-old Simmons wrote all the songs including ‘Sweet Leaf’, a distinctive shuffle riff that would appeal to Status Quo fans. The guitarist also handles the Jack Bruce style vocals on songs like ‘I’m Comin’ Home’, while ‘You Mystify’ is notable for some truly haunting riffs. The final item ‘Birdcatcher’ has melodic flute playing added behind a blazing guitar solo. The group was popular throughout Europe, but broke up in 1975 and this proved the band’s sole album. Long been sought after by fans it is made available by Repertoire, fully restored and remastered with the addition of informative new CD liner notes.

NUCLEUS
ELASTIC ROCK (Limited Edition of 2500 copies)

Top British jazz trumpeter Ian Carr formed Nucleus in 1969 and the group won first prize at the Montreaux International Festival. They established a reputation for improvised but integrated music that moved between jazz and rock styles.

‘Elastic Rock’ was the group’s critically acclaimed debut issued on Vertigo in 1970. Ian on trumpet integrates with Brian Smith (sax), Chris Spedding (guitar), Karl Jenkins (baritone sax and keyboards) and John Marshall (drums). Said Carr about ‘Elastic Rock’: “We see music as a continuous process and have tried to express this on the album.” Produced by Pete King of Ronnie Scott’s Club, the re-issued CD has 13 instrumental tracks, including ‘1916’, ‘Stonescape’ and Karl Jenkins’ title piece.

TUDOR LODGE
TUDOR LODGE (Limited Edition of 2500 copies)

This English folk group’s Vertigo album debut has become incredibly rare and highly prized among record collectors over the years. However, it is now available in all its glory on Repertoire CD, bringing back memories of those attractive songs recorded in a week of sessions at Lansdowne Studios London in 1971. Tudor Lodge took their name from a local pub and came to fame with an acclaimed appearance at the Cambridge Folk Festival. The original trio comprised Ann Steuart (flute and vocals), Lyndon Green (vocals, guitar) and John Stannard (vocals, guitar). Top session musicians augment the line up on the album, notably Danny Thompson (bass) and Terry Cox (drums) from Pentangle. The 12 tracks include ‘Two Steps Back’, featuring Annie Steuart, ‘The Lady’s Changing Home’ (that was released as a single), and a cover of Ralph McTell’s ‘Kew Gardens’.

WORLD OF OZ
WORLD OF OZ (Limited Edition of 2000 copies)

‘Do you believe in magic? Make a journey through the World Of Oz and be a believer’. That was the intriguing promotional message from Deram when the label launched their latest signing in 1969.

The new band was a six piece pop outfit from Birmingham who enjoyed considerable success with debut single ‘The Muffin Man’. The song, featuring lead vocalist Christopher Robin and a studio orchestra, is the first item on the band’s sole album, now widely regarded as a classic. Other tracks such as ‘King Croesus’ and ‘Willow’s Harp’ were huge hits in Europe, where the group toured and appeared regularly on TV. As well as the 12 original album tracks, we have added a further eight items, including the single version of ‘The Muffin Man’ and ‘King Croesus’, together with B-sides and mono versions.

SAM APPLE PIE
SAM APPLE PIE

A couple of buddies founded 'Sam Apple Pie', a blues-rock outfit from the Walthamstow area of London. There they played regularly at 'The Bottleneck' club, but unfortunately only recorded two albums. “We didn't earn much money, but we had a lot of fun,” recalls singer Sam 'Tomcat' Sampson. Probably the most famous member was Gary Fletcher, who later went on to join The Blues Band.

This highly collectable debut album from 1969 is augmented with mono single mixes of 'Tiger Man' and the flip-side 'Sometime Girl', rounding up an essential CD for all blues fans.
