Joy - The Best of Apollo 100
Apollo 100 enjoyed enormous success during the Seventies with their attractive blend of classical themes spiced up with a rock and pop beat.
Their biggest hit was a lively version of ‘Joy’, which shot to Number 6 in the U.S. Billboard chart in 1972. Based on .S.Bach’s ‘Jesus Joy Of Man’s Desiring’, it is among the 30 tracks on this comprehensive ‘Best Of’ CD. Produced by Miki Dallon and played by top British session musicians, the tunes include well-loved themes by Mendelssohn, Grieg and Beethoven, as well as contemporary hits by Cat Stevens and The Beatles. ‘Nut Rocker’ and ‘William Tell Overture’ are among the highlights, and the CD notes include an interview with drummer Clem Cattini, recalling how Apollo 100 took the pop world by storm.
