When the Rhythm Kings arrive in town, audiences expect a rip roaring show, packed with great songs and dynamic performances. And that’s just what you’ll get from this sensational ‘Live’ album. Bill Wyman’s band became a hugely popular touring act after he quit the Rolling Stones to launch his own career. Bill has released a succession of great studio albums, but this ‘live’ CD really captures the spirit of the Kings in action.
The 14-tracks enable us to sit in the ‘front row’ at a typical concert, hearing the musicians blast out R&B favourites like ‘Jump Jive And Wail’ – made famous by Louis Prima. It is performed here by legendary guitarist Albert Lee, a Rhythm Kings regular. Extrovert singer Mike Sanchez works out on ‘Jitterbug Boogie’ and Andy Fairweather Low, formerly of Amen Corner, sings up a storm on ‘Bright Lights Big City’.
There are many more highlights from this exciting concert recorded in Berlin, Germany in 2004. If you’ve never seen the Rhythm Kings in action, then here’s a great chance to hear them at their best, before they hit the road again – one more time!
